Cotswold Village
Located at the heart of the Cotswold neighborhood, Cotswold Village is a huge shopping center, spanning over 262,000 square feet of retail property. Founded back in 1963, it was originally an enclosed shopping mall/strip mall hybrid. Located at the Randolph and Sharon Amity Roads intersection in Charlotte, NC, Cotswold Village is located close to downtown in a busy residential area.
Charlotte’s First Mall
This shopping center has some historical significance in Charlotte since it was the first suburban mall in the city. In the beginning, the center was called Cotswold Mall, with two grocery stores, department stores, and a discount store. It was composed of classic stores including A&P, Harris Teeter, and Rose’s.
With time these tenants closed – apart from Harris Teeter – and other local and international stores set up shop in their place, including World Market, IHOP, PetSmart, ULTA, Starbucks, Subway, ABC Liquor, and Walgreens. Additionally, you’ll find a few local and less familiar stores as well: Dreams & Dragonflies, Ten Thousand Villages, and Skillbeck Gallery, to name a few.
Cotswold Village Today
The mall itself was converted into an open-air shopping center some 19 years ago. The majority of the center’s space is taken up by Books-a-Million, a book store and café rolled into one. Aside from the shopping experience, the center also offers fine dining options. With a vacancy rate of only 3%, you can tell that the businesses here are thriving.
With its chain stores, local shops, apparel stores, salons, and restaurants, this multi-use shopping center can meet the everyday needs of Charlotte’s residents. Cotswold Village is very popular with locals, so if you go during a busy time, you may need to expend some effort finding a place to park.
It’ll take you almost 14 minutes to get to Cotswold Village from All Seasons Window & Door Co via the US-74 E and Randolph Rd. route.
