Symphony Park
Symphony Park, located in Charlotte, NC, spans almost 7.5 acres of land. The park is only a short 17-minute drive away from the All Seasons Windows and Door Co. Ever since 2005, this park has hosted the Charlotte Symphony – the largest professional performing arts organization in the area. The park features a bandshell, the centerpiece of the venue.
About the Park
Summer is the busy season, during which almost 4,000 people flock here every weekend to absorb the Charlotte culture. In addition to the Charlotte Symphony, the park is also home to the Summer Pops Series. The gradually-sloping Amphitheatre can handle large crowds. The 2,700-square-foot stage juts out over a 1.87-acre pond.
The property is flanked on two sides by the SouthPark Mall and residential and office buildings, and the whole park covers almost 70 acres of land.
Aside from the events mentioned above, the park hosts quite a few other festivals and events, namely Beer, Bourbon and BBQ; the Sunset Jazz Festival; an MS walk; a holiday tree lighting; and the Latin American Festival.
What’s Next
This fall, however, the owner of the SouthPark Mall is planning on making some major upgrades. With the $10 million investment he’ll be making, the park will receive quite a few fresh additions, including playing spaces for children, a walkway leading to the mall, kiosks for easy access to beverages and food, public art pieces, and – finally – more restrooms. The primary focus is to make the park more “walkable” by constructing more biking and walking trails, which will form a closed loop.
